1- On the night of Duncan’s murder, a thunder and lightningstorm raged outside. The use of pathetic fallacy has the effect of making the scenes of fear or violence more intense. The pathetic fallacy or anthropomorphic fallacy is the treatment of inanimate objects as if they had human feelings, thought, or sensations.
Pathetic fallacy is sometimes used in the form of metaphors, such as the idea of having a violent sea to represent a feeling of betrayal, of being tossed out into the water without a life-saving device. One such example in this play is when we meet the three witches (1.1). The atmosphere is dark and moodyand the world around the witches is dark and gloomy. This is a good example of pathetic fallacy in that the rain, dark andgloom all represent the feeling in the scene, and form a good setting for our feelings of disgust and queasiness when we read about the witches burying a human hand.

In Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, particularly in the first two acts of the play, comes off as or appears to be very strong. She is obsessed with power and extremely aggressive, especially for a female in both Shakespeare’s time (when the play was written) and 11th century Scotland (when and where the play is set). She totally commits herself to the assassination of Duncan and even manipulates her husband to convince him to go… but lady Macbeth is not as strong as she portrays herself to be as in act 2
3-lady Macbeth in end of act 1 scene 5 says she herself will kill Duncan but chnages her mind soon enough
as she says that Duncan resembled her father as he slept this indicates that she has a murderous heart she could not bring herself to to stab king Duncan only because he looks like her father sleeping
lines quoted are act 2 scene 2 lines 10-15
